What our guests say

★★★★★

Amazing from start to finish!

We had an absolutely fantastic beer tasting experience with Doctor Beer in Brussels. It was just me, my dad, and my sister on the tour, and he really tailored everything to us. We got to enjoy a great mix of beer tasting and a guided tour, tried Belgian beers carefully selected for our tastes, and even received personal recommendations for other Belgian beers we should try — and he was completely spot-on with every single one. On top of that, he gave us excellent restaurant tips that made the rest of our trip even better. Doctor Beer is incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about what he does. Highly recommended!

A memorable and unique experience

My dad and I had a private beer tasting experience with Doctor Beer back in February on our last evening in Brussels, and it was such a memorable and unique experience. We had a lot of fun, learnt a lot, and Dimitri himself was such an interesting and charismatic guy to spend an evening in a Belgian bar with! He also took the time the next day to help us with our selection of beers to take home as gifts.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know

What makes Doctor Beer's brewery tour different?

Our Brussels brewery tours feature a certified beer sommelier, exclusive behind-the-scenes access to authentic Belgian breweries (gueuze cellars, lambic producers and traditional craft houses), tasting of 4 premium Belgian craft beers straight from the source, and intimate small groups of 6 to 12 people. We focus on UNESCO-recognised Belgian brewing heritage and provide personalised, educational experiences you won't find with standard tourist brewery visits.

How long does the brewery tour last?

The Standard brewery experience lasts approximately 2 hours on-site at the brewery — enough time to walk through the production hall, explore the cellars, witness traditional brewing techniques, enjoy a guided tasting of 4 premium beers and ask all your questions. Add about 30 to 45 minutes of round-trip travel from Brussels city centre. Premium and Private tours can be extended to half a day.

Which breweries do you visit?

We work with a curated selection of authentic Belgian breweries near Brussels — including traditional lambic and gueuze producers, oak-barrel cellars and artisanal craft houses. Specific breweries are chosen based on availability and the focus of your tour. Trappist breweries (such as Chimay or Westmalle) are visited occasionally, roughly once a year, due to limited public access — ask for availability when booking a Private tour.

How do we get to the brewery?

The Standard tour meets at Doctor Beer Brussels, Boulevard Anspach, 1000 Bruxelles, and we travel together to the brewery — typically by train (around 20 to 30 minutes from Brussels Central Station). Train tickets are at your own expense for the Standard tour. For Private tours, we can arrange private transportation (van, minibus or coach) included in the quote.

Is the tour suitable for beginners?

Absolutely. Our certified sommelier adapts every brewery tour to your knowledge level. Whether you're a craft beer enthusiast or completely new to Belgian beers, you'll enjoy this educational and entertaining experience. We explain brewing techniques (lautering, mashing, boiling, fermentation), beer styles (lambic, gueuze, Trappist, Abbey, saison) and Belgian brewing history in an engaging, accessible way.

What languages is the tour available in?

We offer the brewery tour in English, French, Dutch and Spanish. Our certified sommelier is fluent in all four languages and translates the brewmaster's commentary when the brewery only provides it in Dutch or French.

Can I book a private brewery tour for my group?

Yes. We offer private brewery tours for groups from 6 to 25+ people — perfect for team-building, corporate events, hen and stag parties, birthdays and special occasions. You can choose the brewery focus (lambic & gueuze, Trappist, craft, or a curated mix), the duration, the transportation and the language. Trappist brewery visits (Chimay, Westmalle) can sometimes be arranged for Private groups, subject to brewery availability. Contact us for a tailored quote.

What's included in the brewery tour price?

Your brewery tour includes: expert guidance from a certified beer sommelier, behind-the-scenes access to an authentic Belgian brewery, tasting of 4 premium craft beers (including rare gueuze and lambic varieties when available), educational content about Belgian brewing heritage and spontaneous fermentation, fascinating stories about traditional brewing methods, and a personalised small-group experience (6 to 12 people for Standard, up to 25+ for Private). Train tickets to the brewery are NOT included in the Standard tour.

What if it rains?

The brewery tour runs in all weather — the brewery is indoor, the cellars are indoor, and the tasting is indoor. We recommend bringing a light umbrella or rain jacket for the short walks from the train station to the brewery. Tours are only cancelled in extreme weather, and in that case we offer a free reschedule or full refund.

How far in advance should I book?

We recommend booking at least one to two weeks in advance for Standard tours, especially for weekends and high season (April–October). For Private tours (large groups, corporate events) or for Trappist brewery requests, please book at least three to four weeks ahead — Trappist visits are subject to the brewery's own scheduling. Last-minute availability is sometimes possible — contact us on WhatsApp +32 486 23 68 36 to check.
