What makes Doctor Beer's beer & chocolate pairing different?
Our pairing features chocolates from two of Belgium’s most prestigious chocolate houses: Mary, official purveyor to the Belgian Royal Court since 1942, and Pierre Marcolini, internationally recognised as one of the world’s finest chocolatiers. Combined with our certified sommelier’s expertise in zythology and gastronomy, you get a chocolate selection at a level of refinement you won’t find in typical tourist experiences.
How long does the beer & chocolate pairing last?
The standard beer & chocolate pairing lasts 2 to 2.5 hours. This gives you enough time to discover multiple chocolate varieties — from single-origin dark to creamy milk and signature pralines — explore complementary beer styles, master professional pairing techniques and learn about the art of Belgian chocolate-making and brewing. Premium and private sessions can run up to 3 hours.
Is the pairing suitable for beginners?
Absolutely. Our certified sommelier adapts every session to your knowledge level. Whether you’re new to craft beers and premium chocolates or already an experienced gastronome, you’ll enjoy this educational and indulgent discovery. We teach the fundamental pairing principles — complementary, contrasting and cutting flavours — from the ground up.
What chocolates and beers will I discover?
You’ll explore premium Belgian chocolates from Mary and Pierre Marcolini: single-origin dark chocolates (70%, 85%, 100% cocoa), milk chocolates with caramelised notes, white chocolate creations, artisan pralines with hazelnut, coffee or fruit ganaches, and seasonal infused specialties. These are paired with exceptional craft beers: Trappist ales from monastery breweries, traditional Lambics and Gueuze, Belgian Stouts and Porters, Tripels, Quadrupels and craft selections. The pairings are chosen to reveal each chocolate’s character.
Where does the beer & chocolate pairing take place?
At Doctor Beer Brussels, Boulevard Anspach, 1000 Bruxelles — three minutes’ walk from the Grand-Place and Manneken Pis. Easily accessible by metro (Brussels Central, lines 1 & 5), tram (lines 3 & 4) and bus.
How do I book a session?
Booking is by email (info@doctorbeer.be) or WhatsApp (+32 486 23 68 36). Because each session features chocolates sourced fresh from Mary and Pierre Marcolini, we don’t take instant online bookings for this experience — we confirm each booking personally to ensure the selection is at its peak on the day.
Can I book a private beer & chocolate pairing for my group?
Yes. We offer private sessions for groups from 6 to 25+ people — perfect for team-building, corporate events, birthdays, romantic experiences, hen and stag parties and private celebrations. Available in English, French, Dutch and Spanish. Contact us via WhatsApp +32 486 23 68 36 or info@doctorbeer.be for a tailored quote.
Do you accommodate dietary restrictions?
Yes. We can accommodate sugar-free chocolates, lactose-free options and vegan alternatives. Please tell us at booking so we can curate a suitable selection while maintaining the exceptional quality of the experience. Most of our partner chocolatiers offer dedicated vegan and lactose-free ranges.
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking at least 48 to 72 hours in advance to ensure availability of premium chocolates and exceptional beer selection, especially for weekends. For large groups (15+ people) please book at least one week ahead to guarantee personalised service and a fresh chocolate selection.
