How it works

Riddles, photo challenges, blind tastings — your group, your team

We split your group into small teams of 3 to 5. Each team gets a riddle booklet that guides them across Brussels' historic centre. Four traditional Belgian bars on the route, four mystery beers to blind-taste and identify. Photo challenges, orientation challenges, sensory challenges. A Doctor Beer animator follows the game, helps when stuck, and reveals all the answers at the end.

Included: 2.5 to 3 hours of guided game, riddle booklets per team, 4 mystery Belgian beer tastings, photo and orientation challenges, scoring and final answer reveal, a Doctor Beer animator throughout, and a small prize for the winning team.

Perfect for: team-building, corporate events, hen and stag parties, birthday celebrations, university outings, conference side events, and groups of friends discovering Brussels together.

★★★★★

Amazing from start to finish!

We had an absolutely fantastic beer tasting experience with Doctor Beer in Brussels. It was just me, my dad, and my sister on the tour, and he really tailored everything to us. We got to enjoy a great mix of beer tasting and a guided tour, tried Belgian beers carefully selected for our tastes, and even received personal recommendations for other Belgian beers we should try — and he was completely spot-on with every single one. On top of that, he gave us excellent restaurant tips that made the rest of our trip even better. Doctor Beer is incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about what he does. Highly recommended!

A memorable and unique experience

My dad and I had a private beer tasting experience with Doctor Beer back in February on our last evening in Brussels, and it was such a memorable and unique experience. We had a lot of fun, learnt a lot, and Dimitri himself was such an interesting and charismatic guy to spend an evening in a Belgian bar with! He also took the time the next day to help us with our selection of beers to take home as gifts.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know

How does the Brussels Beer Treasure Hunt work?

We split your group into small teams of 3 to 5 people and give each team a riddle booklet. You solve clues that lead you across Brussels' historic centre, complete photo and orientation challenges along the way, and visit four traditional Belgian bars. At each bar, you blind-taste a mystery Belgian beer and your team has to describe and identify it. A Doctor Beer animator follows the game from a discreet distance, helps when teams get stuck, and reveals all the answers at the end — usually with a final round of cheers.

How long does the Beer Hunt last?

The standard Beer Hunt lasts 2.5 to 3 hours. Enough time to solve all the riddles at a relaxed pace, taste the four mystery beers, complete the challenges without rushing, and finish with the answers reveal and final scores. Private custom hunts can be extended (longer route, more bars, more challenges).

What kind of group is this designed for?

The Beer Hunt is designed for groups of 6 to 20 people — perfect for team-building, corporate events, hen and stag parties, birthdays, university outings, conference side events and groups of friends visiting Brussels together. For groups larger than 20 (up to 30+), please contact us for a private custom version. We don't run the Hunt for solo travellers or couples — that's what our Beer Tour and Beer Tasting are for.

What kind of challenges are there?

Three main challenge types: (1) riddles and orientation — you have to figure out where to go next based on visual clues, anecdotes about Brussels, or beer-related puzzles; (2) photo challenges — you need to recreate specific scenes, find landmarks or pose in funny configurations; and (3) blind tasting challenges — at each bar, your team tries to identify or describe a mystery Belgian beer using the proper sensory vocabulary. The winning team gets bragging rights and a small Doctor Beer prize.

Is there an animator with us?

Yes. A Doctor Beer animator is always present throughout the Hunt. They explain the rules at the start, give your teams the riddle booklets and starting clues, follow the game from a discreet distance to keep things fun and safe, help when a team is properly stuck, and at the end gather everyone to reveal all the answers, announce the winning team and explain each mystery beer that was tasted.

Where does the Beer Hunt start?

The Beer Hunt starts at Doctor Beer Brussels, Boulevard Anspach, 1000 Bruxelles — three minutes' walk from the Grand-Place and Manneken Pis. The route stays entirely in the historic centre. Easily accessible by metro (Brussels Central, lines 1 & 5), tram (lines 3 & 4) and bus.

What languages is the Hunt available in?

We run the Beer Hunt in English, French, Dutch and Spanish. Riddle booklets and animator instructions are provided in your preferred language. For international groups with mixed nationalities, we can run a bilingual version (typically EN + one other).

What if it rains?

The Hunt runs in all weather — bars are indoor and the walks between them are short. We recommend bringing a light umbrella or rain jacket if rain is forecast. Hunts are only cancelled in extreme weather, and in that case we offer a free reschedule or full refund.

Are there non-alcoholic options?

Yes. The Hunt is built around blind tasting Belgian beers, but we always offer non-alcoholic options (alcohol-free Belgian beers, soft drinks, water) for participants who don't drink — please mention this at booking so we can adapt the tasting cards. Note: tour participants must be 18 or older to taste the alcoholic beers (Belgian legal age for strong alcohol).

How far in advance should we book?

We recommend booking at least one to two weeks in advance for Standard hunts, especially for weekends and high season (April–October). For Private custom hunts (large groups, corporate events, custom riddles), please book at least three weeks ahead to give us time to design the experience around your group. Last-minute availability is sometimes possible — contact us on WhatsApp +32 486 23 68 36 to check.
